Soroptimist International is one of the few women NGOs which has
General Consultation Status (formally known as Category 1)
with the United Nation's Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). |

ACTIVITIES |

Program activities are conducted through four committees, i.e., Economic and Social Development/Human Rights & Status of Women, Education, Environment & Health, International Goodwill and Understanding, which focus on Human Rights & Status of Women.
Sponsorship
Soroptimist international organizes youth clubs, i.e., Venture Clubs (groups of young working women ), Sigma Society (University Students) and S Clubs (Junior High and Senior High School Students), whose voluntary activities are supported by the local clubs. |

that is: to serve in line with the theme provided by the
president of Soroptimist International who presides over

SIA'S
IDENTIFYING PROJECTS |
|
|
We have four Identifying Projects;
The Violet Richardson Award named after our founder, Women's
Opportunity Award; Soroptimist Ruby Award for Women Helping Women; and
Domestic Violence Initiatives. These projects are supported by
approximately 40,000 members in 19 countries, which clubs come
under the Federation of Soroptimist International of the Americas,
Inc. |

SOROPTIMIST
JAPAN FOUNDATION |
|
|
The members of Japan's five regions,
approximately 14,000 in total, support this Foundation. It has
five project awards: Two Social Service Voluntary Awards, one
for the Youth and the other for Adults, Kayoko Sen Award, Environment
Service Award, Youth Development Award, and
Grants to Domestic and International Voluntary Services. |
